Safeguarding Statement
Last Updated: July 6, 2026
At Carers Community Circle, safeguarding is at the core of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where all community members, staff, volunteers, and visitors feel respected and protected from harm.
1. Our Responsibility
We recognize that we have a duty of care to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of everyone who participates in our coffee mornings, peer support groups, workshops, trips, and online sessions. This includes unpaid carers, paid carers, older individuals, SEND children, and vulnerable adults.
2. Key Principles
- Zero Tolerance of Abuse: We operate a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of abuse, harassment, discrimination, or neglect.
- Empowerment & Respect: We support people's right to live in safety and dignity, respecting their choices and independence.
- Proactive Action: We ensure all concerns, allegations, or suspicions of abuse are taken seriously and responded to promptly and appropriately.
3. Preventing Harm
To keep our community safe, we carry out the following measures:
- Safer Recruitment: All staff and volunteers undergo thorough suitability checks, including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate.
- Training & Awareness: We equip our team with safeguarding training so they can recognize signs of abuse or distress and know how to report concerns.
- Confidentiality & Reporting: Information about safeguarding concerns is handled with the utmost discretion and shared only with relevant professionals who need to know.
4. Reporting a Concern
If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a participant at one of our events, or if you feel unsafe yourself, please speak to a member of our team immediately or contact us via email at carerscommunity@jstraininganddevelopment.co.uk.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger of harm or abuse, please call 999 for the emergency services.
